Educational Links

Parents, here are some educational links that might be useful this school year:

  • Ellensburg School District:
    • This is the homepage to Ellensburg School District where you can access almost everything and know almost everything about what is going on in our educational community.
  •  AccuWeather:
    • Here is a site where you can access Ellensburg weather and plan ahead to see what type of clothes your child should bring to school the next day! The wind does blow and winter can be chilly, always be sure to have your child prepared!
  • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:
    • Ever have any questions or concerns that are health related? The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is the most useful site to visit if you want to be properly educated on the latest health information for you, your child, or family.
  •  City of Ellensburg:
    • This is the link to the local youth sports page for the city of Ellensburg. This link will allow you to sign your child up for an after school sport or maybe you could sign yourself up to play in the adult leagues.
  • MyPlate; SuperTracker:
    • This site has a great program where students can plan and personalize either a nutritional or physical activity plan. They will be able to look up different types of activities and see how many calories can be burned or look up different types of food to see how many calories they contain. It is also a great site to receive tips and support to make healthier choices in life.
Colleagues, here are some links I found highly useful:

  • AAHPERD:
    • This site is the National Association for Sport and Physical Education. Here you can create connections, access resources, look up standards, become involved with conferences and the latest information and knowledge in the physical education world.
  • PE Links 4 U:
    • This site is useful for finding lesson plans, ideas, standards, job openings, and your latest information in the Physical Education world. I mostly go to this site to find new instant activities for my classes. It is a great page for you to interact with other PE or Health teachers, you can even share your own ideas! Within this page there are even more links that are recommended.
  • CWU Climbing Wall:
    • This page gives you access to the latest information on youth climbing here in Ellensburg. Through Central Washington University kids can sign up and learn how to rock climb for the first time by joining Kids Rock or rock climb once a week by joining the Youth Climbing group. You can even create a personalized event for your class or a birthday party. Take advantage of what our community has to offer with this awesome program.
  • Nourish Interactive:
    • This site is highly recommended if you are looking for something health related and interactive. This webpage focuses on Nutrition with endless amounts of information on the topic as well as fun interactive games that students can participate in. If you want students to have a better understanding of wellness and good nutrition I'd recommend this site. Students will have fun with this. This can also be shared with parents as a good resource for cooking ideas, information, and educating their child more in depth.
  • OSPI:
    • This site provides information and resources to access learning standards, assessments, and other sources for Health and Fitness K-12 in Washington State. It also includes all other content areas for K-12 and is a great resource for all teachers. Teachers can use this site as a resource to help align lesson plans with the standards.
